Hornblower – The Last Trumpeter LP

Building upon the momentum of their triumphant debut, Resurgence of Virtue and Crime, the sophomore effort of Hornblower, The Last Trumpeter firmly establishes the project as a modern torchbearer for the grandiose, ancient sounds of 90s symphonic and medieval black metal.

Expanding upon the raw, battle-worn militancy of their first release, The Last Trumpeter is constructed on a majestic foundation of sweeping synthesizer melodies and vicious, fog-shrouded riffs. The overall sound draws an immediate and potent comparison to Godkiller's cult 1996 MCD, The Rebirth of the Middle Ages. By interweaving dusty medieval synth textures with epic, atmospheric soundscapes and primal vocal fury, the album evokes a noble, aristocratic darkness. It captures the same triumphant ferocity that defined the genre's earliest symphonic pioneers, masterfully balancing melancholic interludes with uncompromising, blood-soaked aggression.

Operating entirely within a conceptual framework of forgotten wars and ruined chivalry, the release functions as an immersive, militant saga. Rather than relying on chaotic noise or aimless speed, The Last Trumpeter offers a finely crafted, atmospheric listening experience that naturally invites the mind into an era of dark knights, ancient fortresses, and scorched battlefields.

Available on heavy 180g black vinyl with Japanese style tip-on jacket, Japanese OBI and 12” insert.
